Honestly I had no idea that there was a little gadget like this on the market until I read a bit of news on this new Eye-Fi memory card. First of all just the fact that the memory card comes with a little Wi-Fi antenna in to pick up your hot spots is awesome in itself. I suppose this was the next logical step in the process of getting all our digital photos onto our computers and eventually online to share with all our friends and family.
Honestly though how difficult is it really to plug in your camera to the usb cable and upload your most recent pictures to your computer? It’s been a few years now and we have had a few digital cameras over the years and for the most part as soon as we plug in the pictures automatically get transferred to our photo program with no issues. Obviously in the interest of convenience having our digital camera with a wi-fi signal should be pretty sweet. I have not come across the need to pick up a new memory card for our digital cameras.
So I would be interested to hear from anyone that has picked up one of these new eye-fi memory cards. A bigger question that I have about these new eye-fi memory cards are the extra services that the company that makes the wi-fi memory cards to give you even more freedom with your pictures. I especially am interested to know how the webshare service works and if it really is as easy as they make it sound. The webshare service which by the way is only ten bucks a year claims that you can automatically have your digital photos not only uploaded to your computer but directly to your favorite picture or social website like Facebook. Now that has got to be a very cool hi-tech gadget that a lot of people would have an immediate use for.
